Lake Opeongo Weather Station

The weather station on Lake Opeongo is located in the South Arm on a small island near the North Arm Narrows. Data from the station are transmitted to the GOES East satellite at 09:55 minutes past each hour. This page is updated at approximately 15 minutes past each hour to allow for processing and delivery of the GOES data.
The values presented here are hourly averages computed over the preceding hour. These data complement in‑water sensor arrays located at the upwind and downwind ends of the primary fetch of the South Arm. Together, the wind measurements and water temperature data provide insight into internal seiche events in Lake Opeongo and how these processes influence fish habitat use.
