Cassie Kotsopoulos

Biologist
Aquatic Research & Monitoring Section

I’ve worked at the Harkness Laboratory of Fisheries Research since 2023 as a biologist with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. My first experience at Harkness was in 2021 as a master’s student with Kevin McCann’s lab at the University of Guelph, where I studied lake trout food webs in boreal shield lakes. My current role involves supporting MNR and collaborative research projects through data analysis, scientific writing, and field logistics. I’m broadly interested in aquatic ecology, particularly food web interactions and trophic dynamics.

Principle areas in which I provide support include:

  • Stable isotope data analyses
  • Application of hydroacoustic assessment techniques
  • Trophic niche quantification and analyses for multiple fish species
  • Analyses of high resolution telemetry data
  • Field support

Education

  • 2023 M.Sc. Integrative Biology - University of Guelph
  • 2021 B.Sc. Marine and Freshwater Biology - University of Guelph
