Forest Fish Project

GIS Analysis

The Forest Fish project has relied extensively on the power of GIS to collect, manage, and analyze a wide range of biological, ecological and hydrological information.  Specifically, information on brook trout and their habitat has been combined with topographic, geologic, and land cover information in one single integrated spatial database.  The collection and compilation of these data in a GIS provides a wealth of information and new opportunities for analysis that would not otherwise be possible using a traditional relational database.  Although nearly all components of the Forest Fish project have used GIS in some way, this section will highlight several of key applications and analyses.  These include:
